Total considers the long-term development strategy to announce that it plans to start a large-scale coal-to-olefins project in China next year, striving to build the first million-ton-scale large-scale coal-to-olefins commercialization project in China around 2015. ”
Total's move is aimed at China's vast olefin market. It plans to use coal to produce methanol to produce olefins, which tends to establish its own production base in China through joint investment and cooperation with partners.
