On June 13, Pirelli Tire Asia Pacific Supplier Conference was held at its Shandong Luzhou plant. At the conference, Pirelli awarded the 2011 Supplier of the Year award, which was the first company-related award from the company.

Pirelli scored suppliers according to their performance in terms of quality, innovation, efficiency, total cost control, sustainability, global performance, and service level throughout the year 2011. The winners were: PT. Aneka Bumi Pratama, Columbia Chemicals, HF Tire Technology Group, Nynas AB, Rhodia, Styron, Techedge SpA, and Value Team SpA.

Pirelli’s establishment of this award is aimed at affirming and encouraging outstanding suppliers. It also hopes to use this as an opportunity to continuously strengthen cooperation with suppliers and improve their service quality.

Pirelli Asia Pacific President Berg said that Pirelli will be more focused on the high-end tire market, and strive to become the world leader in the high-end tire market by 2015. Pacelli Global Chief Purchasing Officer Staccoli further elaborated on Pirelli's strategy of selecting partners in the context of high-end focus and how to develop new products together with suppliers and jointly promote sustainable development.

It is reported that Pirelli will increase its strategic investment in the Asia Pacific region and will invest an additional 200 million U.S. dollars in investment in the Ganzhou plant before the end of 2014. After completion of all investments, its annual production capacity will reach 10 million car tires and will become Pirelli's largest tire factory in the world. In addition to the Quzhou plant in China, Pirelli is also establishing a motorcycle tire factory in Indonesia with local companies.
