More and more schools integrate 3D printing technology into the classroom

Singapore: More and more schools are incorporating 3D printing technology into the classroom.
In the past two years, the number of 3D printers has been continuously increasing. According to one supplier's estimate, about 20 schools in Singapore have 3D printers.
Using 3D printers in class is no longer a rare occurrence.
Last August, Ngee Middle School spent about 2,900 US dollars to buy a printer.
"This technology allows us to make students' thinking more active and they will also be more interested in this subject," said Vincent Tang, senior teacher of design and technology at Ngee Ann Middle School. We can learn that they have come up with a better design."
"Once we make them interested in design and technology and the design part, they will be very happy and will continue to improve and optimize their designs."
The printer shows the student's new technology.
Mohammad, a student at Ngee Ann Secondary School, said: "Technology is always improving. I can see new technologies and I can experience it first before students in other schools experience it."
It helps them hone their design abilities and creative thinking.
Another student from Ngee Ann Middle School, Alain Naichang, said: "I really want to print out attachments because it's easy to do - and they don't need to spend too much time."
In addition to giving students help in their studies, 3D printers also help teachers.
For example, during the school opening last year, they gave souvenirs, including key chains, rings, and whistles.
The teachers plan to teach their peers in other schools to learn how to use the printer and introduce them to students.
Anthony, the director of A-Main Objectives, is a supplier of 3D printers. He said: "The reason why 3D printers are popularized lately is due to the patent of fuse deposition manufacturing, which expired in 2013. This makes 3D printers available to the general public. market."
Xincheng Middle School is another school that has just begun developing 3D printing technology.
In December 2013, the school spent about $7,000 to buy a 3D printer and plans to use it in class this April.
"The first thing we can tell our students is that this is a privilege. Not all schools have it," said Alfred Gao, a leader in technology and technology at Xinzheng Middle School.
He added that the school hopes that students can make full use of it to enrich their learning.
At the same time, the school has intended to use the printer for other purposes, including having teachers from other departments use unconventional techniques.
Goh Chok Tong said: "Teachers can print out oxygen molecules and carbon molecules and put them together to form carbon monoxide molecules. I think this will be a huge aid to students' visual and kinetic awareness."
The potential of 3D printing technology is unlimited, and the school hopes that this technology can stimulate students' thinking.
