Genesis Introduces LCD Controller Supporting WSXGA+ and UXGA

Genesis Microchip recently announced the launch of its new LCD controller gm5766 for its Phoenix family at the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

The gm5766 controller is a memory-free solution for mainstream and high performance LCD monitors. The device features six primary color controls and supports WSXGA+ (1,680 x 1,050) and UXGA (1,600 x 1,200) LCD monitor segments. The product integrates a 3-channel ADC up to 205MHz, DVI with HDCP support, and an 8-bit ITU656 video input port. In addition, the gm5766 offers adaptive contrast and color as well as configurable LVDS/RSDS outputs. The chip has a firmware program that is pin compatible with other products in the gm56XX family and is available in a 128-pin PQFP package.

The gm5766 enables monitor manufacturers to reduce the BOM cost of high-resolution displays and uses Genesis' advanced color control technology. The compatibility of firmware and hardware with other Phoenix family products ensures easy portability of the device to consumer products. .
