Ford: Sell Volvo plans to make progress

According to foreign media reports, recently, Ford Motor Co. CEO Alan Mulally said Ford sells Volvo Cars plans being made.

Mulally did not say with whom he is discussing the sale of Volvo, but China's Geely Automobile Company stated that its parent company wants to buy this Swedish brand.

Murali said at the groundbreaking ceremony for a 150,000-capacity plant in Chongqing, China, that by 2012, the plant will increase Ford's output to 600,000 units.

When asked about Ford's plans to sell Volvo, Mulally said: "We are making progress with potential buyers." He refused to name any potential buyers.

The Wall Street Journal quoted a person familiar with it on September 25. It was reported that Ford was analyzing Geely’s recent bid. This bid involved a complete acquisition of Volvo with approximately $2.5 billion.

The newspaper reported that Geely emerged as a major competitor in the acquisition of Ford Volvo.
